Oh sure, what's one more thing?

My Saturday plans include...

a wedding...
a funeral...
an SCA event...
and a housewarming party.

Why do I feel like I need to start drinking heavily already?

Is it that I like feeling busy?
Is it that I am incapable of saying, "NO!"?
Is it that I feel like he who checks off the most "to do's" from the list, wins?
All of the above?

Well, I enjoyed my evening yesterday. After a good workout at the House of Pain, I returned home, made a nice dinner, and got to work on projects. C&I-wise, I did the marbelizing of the columns on the scroll I'm doing. Embroidery-wise, I cut the sleeves for my new Italian farsetto, and have a plan for the embroidery which I want to have mapped out before Sunday's all-day meeting-of-doom. If I don't have a project to work on, I'm liable to go nuts.

Garden-wise, anybody got any suggestions on what to do for hard-shelled scale? My Japanese maple often succumbs to it, and it is horrible. I keep scraping those annoying suckers off, but more appear. I have read about vegetable oils that suffocate them. Any ideas? Anybody? Buehler?

WHY IS LIFE SO F$*%ing EXPENSIVE?!

Today, I read one of the local rags to find out that "Garbage" is coming in concert in July. WooHOO! OK, for those of you who don't know me well, my musical tastes are pretty varied. I love Irish folk, 80's, some show tunes, some classical, some pop-modern, etc., etc. But along the lines of modern rock, there is only one group that I am just nuts about - Garbage.

Hell, I'd turn straight again for Shirley Manson! (OK, not really. It is a metaphor).

Anyway, I would love, love, LOVE to see them live! So on a whim, I checked it out. Tickets are available. Yeah! The concert will be in Costa Mesa. Yeah! The cheapest tickets are...

PTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOEY!!!!!

The cheapest tickets are $130. Oh LORDIE! OK, geek that I am, I still have my concert ticket stubs from all of my high school concerts. I am proud to still have my Duran Duran ticket, general admission, $19.50. Of course, that dates to March 26, 1984 (I know because it was the day after my sweet-sixteenth). Now, I know that inflation doth occur. I know that things are more expensive. But One HUNDRED thirty bucks? Sorry, but for that kinda money, the performers had better be doing more than just singing to me, if ya know what I mean.
