Hi guys,

In an attempt to get out of my Monday moodiness, I am bitching about TV. Last night I caught the latest episode of Queer As Folk. Why DO I still watch it? Oh yah, because I'm a gay man and there just might be a random flash of a hot nekkid guy. OK, reason enough. But in terms of plot...when exactly did the show jump the shark? I believe that it has, but I'm not sure exactly when.

Let's look at this season thus far...

- Brian is all upset because there is a hot guy that turned down his advances.

Joe's view: GET OVER IT you whiney-assed, all-things-me, vaney-as-hell, your-roses-smell-like-pupu, brat! There is no such thing as a guy who is "SO HOT" that EVERYBODY wants him. There is nothing more fickle than gay men - especially when it comes to their *types*. Some like muscular hot guys. Some want beefy hairy chubs. Some want 16-year-old looking blondy-tweeky-twinks. Some want Mongoloids with flies buzzing around their heads. Get over it and move on.

- Hunter is upset because people found out about his HIV status

Joe's view: Life is tough kiddo. You chose to turn tricks for a living, and did so without regard to protection. Gee... whose fault is that? Um... YOURS buddy-boy. You can either take the lemons that life has given you (which you alllowed to happen in the first place) and make lemonade or choose to lead a complete shit-life for however much longer the gods give you. You choose.

- Lindsey and Mel are having lesbian-drama.

Joe's view: Nuff said.

- Emmett has decided to get "in your face" with the whole queer eye thing.

Joe's view: You stupid ass. You landed a break on TV being TV's "Queer Guy," and that isn't good enough for you? You have to be actually offensive by putting your gay take-it-up-the-assness in people's faces. Sorry, but I find that offensive. I don't like it when Carson Kresley does that on the real Queer Eye. So get over your "Gay Cause" high-horse. Nobody likes sexuality FORCED upon them, whether it be gay, straight, or any combo thereof.

- Justin is upset because Brian won't settle down with him like other couples

Joe's view: Um, helllloooooooooooo, you stupid air-head blond. Right from the beginning, Brian was open and honest that he did not want a one-on-one relationship. He has never deceived you about that. He has never led you on. He has never implied anything different. He has never led you astray about this. Want a relationship? Go and get one. Want him to change? Welcome to your own level of purgatory.

- Ted on "revenge fucking"

Joe's view: Gods, you are pathetic. You could easily go through life being a nice guy if you would learn to like YOURSELF. But no. You are shallow. You do not place any value on the nice guy that you are deep inside. You place all of your value on the physical, which you do not seem to appreciate. As a result, you come across as a lump and turn people off. And then you are angry and bitter at people by being turned off by you. Here's a quarter... go buy some self-esteem.

- Debbie, unable to relax without being stressed-out

Joe's view: Oh honey, I so relate. I would say, "take a load off your feet - you burn the candles at both ends," but lightning would strike.

Oh, Joe, I do so love you.

Reading this sort of thing in your journal gives me a real pain in my side, because I laugh so hard.

You are a true gem. Keep writing.

Joe, with the aid of the occasional spell-checker, have you *EVER* considered becoming a freelance writer to add to the household coffers?

You make it to various shows, restaurants and clubs, so many Victorian house-walks, etc., that you could easily write a weekly or monthly column freelance, and you'd be able to write off the cost of going to those functions or establishments.

A dear friend in Atlanta was a $1k/night call-girl for about fifteen years, but it brought D.C. in contact with many of the best restaurants, night clubs, shows, entertainers, and famous people in Atlanta, and so she had the experiences about which she could write. She'd pull out her Powerbook and write authoritative recommendation columns for local entertainment magazines, making what she called an "honest" cheque on top of the 1-6k/week from the agencies.

Whoa! Wait a minute. Was this a RANT? You're treading on my turf now bitch.

After all the mocking you've heckled me with, you now have realized the power and have come over to the ranting side. Ain't it just so cool and refreshing?

Wow, I suddenly don't regret not having Showtime. I watched the first season and part of the second but dropped Showtime and this was the only show I missed. Now I realize that I am missing very little.

That show was only good the first 2 seasons. My favorite character, Vic, died sometime last year, but the show lost its steam after the 2nd year. What year are they in now 7th???

Entourage on HBO is better.

I'm not sure whether your review makes want to watch the show or not watch the show. :) At any rate I watch next to >0< TV these days so I have neither HBO nor Showtime. (So why the heck am I paying almost 60 bucks a month for cable?!?)

At least you CAN watch Queer As Folk. We don't even get it here at all :( And I have to admit I did like the show.

I dont know if your journal software notifies you of new postings, and I don't know quite honestly how I will know if you respond to this posting, but as someone who feels entitled (yes, you heard me) due to my age, my years of being out, my utter self-centered-ness -let me implore you: STOP WATCHING THIS CRAPPY SHOW. It has as much to do with gay life as Martha Stewart has to do with stock fraud or Karl Rove has to do with integrity. NOTHING. It's sickening propaganda. If you need flesh, rent porn, watch Strip Search, cruise the internet. All the gay points you accumulated during my limited tutelage will automatically expire if you continue to view this insipid excuse for entertainment.
