Watch those credit cards!
Jun. 17th, 2005 09:15 amHi gang,
Shortly after our return from Palm Springs, I made the horrible discovery that both of my credit cards were missing from my wallet. Now, for those of you who don't know me well, let's just say that this is highly HIGHLY bizarre. I am, shall we say, on the anal-retentive side. Things don't just *disappear* with me. I don't leave things like my wallet unattended. Anyway, when I discovered them missing, I contacted the appropriate authorities, reported them as stolen, and got them to work on issuing replacements. Apparently, with both cards, somebody tried to use them, and the companies contacted us with what they believed to be fraudulent activity. Gulp!
Unfortunately, whoever the bastard is, he did manage to have SOME fun. I opened up one statement this morning and found over $2,000 of charges in Vegas. Luckily for me, these happened AFTER I reported the card missing. I need to report them on an affadavit, and that should get them struck from my statement. But still, it just weirds me out. If this could happen to me, it could happen to anybody. Please everyone, be VERY careful.
