Another Coronation event come and gone, and I survived the kitchen!

For those of you who are not SCA geeks, this past Saturday was a big event in this neck of the woods, and I had the pleasure of being the head cook.  The challenge - a seven course feast for 150 from the 1598 pulication of the Epulario.  I could not be more happy with how things went I had a DREAM TEAM in the kitchen, and more often than not, we found ourselves twiddling our thumbs waiting for the next thing to do.  I was thrilled in the middle of the afternoon when I learned that feast was entirely sold out with 30 people on the waiting list.  WooHOO!

The pacing was excellent, the kitchen was just amazing-amazing-amazing, and I came in way under budget.  When all was said and done, I made the traditional toast - "Here's to another fabulous fucking feast that will never receive the Golden Galleon!"  Of course, that is completely out of context here in Caid, but I'm sure that [livejournal.com profile] georgie_bird and [livejournal.com profile] peacockharpy  will get it and laugh.

I am very lucky.  I count myself fortunate to be given these opportunities, and I am VERY lucky to have such wonderful and helpful friends.  We had WAAAAY too much fun in the kitchen.

"ROME (Reuters) - Pope Benedict, in his first clear pronouncement on gay marriages since his election, on Monday condemned same-sex unions as fake and expressions of "anarchic freedom" that threatened the future of the family. "

Isn't that odd... I view the papacy as an expression of "anarchic freedom."

Well, I guess we're one for one then.
