Last night, for the first time in at least a week, I slept and slept really, really well. Often, one of two things happens. Either, I am brain-dead, but too full of energy to sleep, or just the opposite. Yesterday was just perfect - physical exhaustion, and mental tranquility.

I think I need to learn how to relax.

I notice that when I spent a couple of hours last night painting, it helped to focus my energies and attention, leaving me with a very tranquil feeling. Artsy-craftsy stuff always makes me feel good.

My husbear spent the past few evenings rewiring in the garage. So now, instead of having a few rigged-together wires and hard-to-reach plugs, we have a very awesome and efficient set of working (Key Word) light switches. He is so cool! As for my Dom Domesticity, some new garden arrivals made their way into pots. I ordered some Joseph's Coat roses, and white lace vines to go on the deck.

Now to get through the day, hit the House of Pain, and figure out what to do for dinner. Is it the weekend yet?

I am feeling rather philosophical today. (Probably the New Moon affecting my mind-wanderings).

My husbear has hit a bit of a wall. Between the high cost of living here in So. Cal. and just the sheer amount of annoyance at the city, the politics, or whatever, he is just annoyed. I can't say I blame him. I probably have more of those days than he. But to be realistic, is any place "ideal"? What city doesn't have some corruption in the government? What city doesn't have some pollution? What city doesn't have clashes between cultures or religions, or philosophies?

I think we have an excercise in front of us where we need to both determine what we consider to be important and critical things that help us to maintain our joy.

Let me ask you guys out there in LJ world - what are the top five things that you all consider to be THE MOST important or critical things when it comes to selecting a place to settle down?
