One VERY full weekend
Nov. 21st, 2005 08:49 amYe gods, I'm beat! What a fantabulous weekend.
Friday - Not a darned thing. FINALLY! A night of actual for-real relaxation. And not a moment too soon.
Saturday, right after sprucing up and doing some much-needed gardening, georgie_bird and Jay arrived. WooHOO! I have missed them so much. We had JUST long enough to sit n' chat before whisking out the door for the Black Rose Ball. The ball was much fun - schmoozing, dancing, and lovely people. For me, I must confess, the best part is - it is done. This was the last of my "many projects at once" couple of months, and I am very happy that it worked out and is now complete. Another wonderful highlight of the evening involved my taking an apprentice. WooHOO! ;
adelheit is now mine. Mu ha ha ha! MINE! MINE! MINE! But back to the dance...
My poor honey was so stuffed up and conjested, he was not able to call his set. Luckily, Robynne and I were able to tag-team back n' forth enough to get people on their feet. It is all about the fun!
Sunday - no rest for the wicked... after a stop-off at Pop's for breakfast, georgie_bird, Jay, Charles and Peggy and I headed off to the Getty Museum.
OH MY GOD! The current display is just overwhelming - truly more than I expected. I knew I would have the opportunity to see some magnificent stuff, but I had no idea... among other pieces, I saw the Hours of Catherine of Cleves, and also the Farnese Hours. I can now check that off of my list of "things to see before I die." Towards the end of the Painted Prayers exhibit, I had to leave - it was just too much. Too overwhelming.
Following all that came dinner with the gang. Let me rephrase - drinking, appetizers, drinking, main course, drinking, dessert, drinking... Am I holding my head carefully this morning - um YAH. But it was worth it.
Is it nap time yet?
