A lazy Sunday afternoon
Jun. 3rd, 2007 05:08 pmAs I sit here typing this, the festive brass tones of mariachi trumpets flow through the open window. Our next door neighbor is holding a birthday party with the whole extended family in the backyard. Donned in formal sombraros and tight mariachi suits, the exceptionally good band plays and croons to the honor of the matriarch who celebrates one more year. Being what feels like the "only anglos in the vill-age", Paul and I sit in the back yard enjoying the free concert in the shade of our camphor tree. The day is sunny. The air is cool. Now if only I had some nice icey sangria, everything would be just perfect.
For the most part today, I have taken it easy. My entire list of accomplishment for today involves grocery shopping and prepping dinner. Waking up this morning, I felt rested, but my feet hurt after a long day in the kitchen yesterday. Drawing a bath, with mundo muscle-relaxing bath salts, I look back upon the day. Another SCA Coronation come and gone. Another Coronation feast complete. All in all, I'd have to say that we did well. We toasted our traditional toast (giggle), and enjoyed the challenge of bringing people just a little bit closer to understanding the cultures and senses of people long-gone-by. I enjoy the cooking. I enjoy the work. But man... my feet hurt!
