STOOOOPID Ass Parents!

I have a great amount of respect for parents. No - really.  I do.  Let's face it folks, raising a kid ain't easy.  No matter where you are, and what the circumstances, the village that helps to raise the child can be freaky.  And in a world where access to violence and danger can travel at the speed of light and beyond, I feel for the parents who try so very hard to do right by their kids only to be thwarted by other means.  

Today, Giley and I went to Folsom Street Fair.  I'll spare you all the details, but we'll just say that it is an adult venue.  No REALLY - adult!  Aside from the booths where they give flogging demonstrations, all of the merchants selling every kind of toy and gadget known to exist (many of which I am clueless on how to use, and am quite frightened to even THINK about), some people choose to walk around nekkid - and I DO mean nekkid, not to mention carry on doing what liberated people choose to do in the middle of a crowd, against a street post, or just right there next to you.

What do I find more surprising than the public jacking off, blow jobs, and down n' out fucking?  STUPID PARENTS!  Yes, every now and again, some idiot parent would be walking along with his or her two or three year old in a carry-all or in a stroller.

Parents, I recognize that it is your right to expose your kids to what you feel is best.  But you should NOT be bringing your toddlers here!  Do NOT be carrying your 2 or 3 year old through a highly-charged sex-fest!  What the HELL are you THINKING?!  Look, the simple fact is this - there are some places that are ADULT venues.  Being that it is a street festival, legally, nobody can be refused.  But for crying out loud - THINK!!!!!  Do you think you are doing your kids a favor by exposing them to adult things early?  Um... you ain't!  I am anything but a prude, gods only know.  But just like I don't expect to see breasts exposed on Saturday morning cartoons, kids deserve the right to be kids and not be expose to things of an adult nature.  Likewise, adults deserve the right to be adults, and be able to go to adult-venues if that is what they want to do.  They shouldn't have to worry that Buffey-the-idiot has her three year old with her because Buffy didn't make a smart decision.

Want to raise a child who is open-minded?  Then try TALKING to your kid IF and WHEN your child asks you questions.  Makes me wonder - does the parent show his or her child porm flicks at home?
