Weekend Recap
Jan. 12th, 2009 12:53 pmWell, from my perspective, Caidan 12th Nite was an absolute blast! My dear Baroness and I got there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (ok, not really. I am SOOOO not a morning person), by shortly after 8:00am as the big show began. It was awesome experiencing another episode of “kitchen bonding” with the Littlest Baroness and the Red Baroness. They are family. And sick pups that we are, we really DO manage to have fun in the kitchen. But having said that…WOW, was it an intensive bit of feast prep!!!! In all honesty, we really never got a chance to stop. We kept working on food from 8:00am all the way until serving because there really was just that much to do. And that followed right on the heals of the head cook having completed a tremendous amount of prep prior to that. Last month, during our prep meetings, I gave a strong warning to the head cook that doing 12 dishes was insane crazy nuts “ambitious”. Yah… that’s the word… “ambitious”. But despite my extreme skepticism, it all happened. Mea culpa. Mea culpa. I was wrong and he was right. And I couldn’t be happier to have been wrong! After all, the proof was in the metaphorical pudding. All in all, I’m pretty pleased with how things went. To the best of my knowledge, the feast was well-received, and the only issue, if any, was “Too Much Food.”
A couple of times, I got yanked out of the kitchen to witness accolades being bestowed on my nearest and dearest. The best moment of the event for me had to have been watching my honey being bestowed a Personal Heraldic Title. I mean no slight to any of the other wonderful heralds out there (of which, Caid has a lot!), but let’s face it – my hubby rocks as a Court and Field herald. Whether it be his stature, his presence, his booming voice, his fast-on-his-feet-wit or whatever, he is a prime example of what people strive to be like when it comes to this particular area of service. I couldn’t be happier to see him recognized in such a magnificent way.
Another recognition that I was thrilled to witness was that of Cateruccia receiving a Caidan Crescent. From day one, she charged into this game with the full intention of experiencing it to its fullest and I don’t think she has stopped. Despite my own previous experience, I found it intimidating to follow her as Seneschal simply because she did such an incredible job, as she does with pretty much everything she does.
From the little glimpses I caught here and there, I saw some wonderful garb, and lots of smiles. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Now to figure a way to get my feet to stop hurting!!!!
