Grump day

Ugh, I’m in a grumpy mood today, and with good reason.

 

Work: The office is stressing me out big time. People empowered to make decisions aren’t making them, and the trickle-down effect is intense. Compiling my stress is the non-professional behavior of some of my co-workers. Gods only know, I believe in keeping a good sense of humor. But some of my co-workers don’t know how to balance fun and a professional work environment. For instance…

 

Decorating someone’s office for their birthday – cute. 

Throwing a bunch of metallic confetti decorations all over the office floor – NOT cute. I occasionally hold meetings in my office. It doesn’t need to look like a disco floor.

 

Occasional office banter or hallway chat – ok.

Co-workers unable to be located because they are off being chatty-cathys – NOT ok.

 

In short, have fun, but be professional. Why is this such a hard concept for some people to get? 

 

Outside of work, I have been a shoulder to a few friends lately while listening to their relationship issues. And yes, it makes me stop to think. Sure, not every relationship in the world is meant to last. But in some cases, I am seeing break-ups that are taking place after nearly a decade. Gulp! This makes me really nervous. I do believe that my relationship with Paul is very stable, but this reinforces the fact that one cannot simply take it for granted. Relationships take work, communication, and compromise. 

 

Healthwise, both Giley and I are coming down with some sort of warm-one-day-chilly-the-next head cold. Ugh. To paraphrase George Carlin, “when you’re sick, people are nice to you. But when you are ‘nearly sick’, you are just one huge pain in the ass.”

 

Must get through the day, not stress out, run errands, and hit my yoga class tonight. 

 

Ugh… they don’t pay me enough for this kinda stress!
