In a brilliant legal opinion, Judge Vaughn Walker carefully outlines how the restrictions of Prop 8 cause damage to a minority class, thus ruling it unconstitutional. Sadly, Tim Wildmon, President of the American Family Association, believes that Judge Walker should have recused himself from this trial, “given the fact that he is widely reported to be homosexual”. Such a sophomoric attack upon Judge Walker’s professionalism completely ignores the most basic fact of this trial - equal protection under the law. The U.S. Constitution guarantees equal protection to all citizens. “We, the People…”, do not get to simply vote away the rights of minorities, which is exactly what Prop 8 did.

Mr. Wildmon, same-gender marriage provides protection and stability to gay and lesbian families throughout California. Why should an organization calling itself the “American Family Association” wish to see rights striped away from a group of American families?
