Updates from the aquarium
Dec. 7th, 2011 12:53 pmSo what is goin' on in Guppyland?! Well, I'll tell ya. I'm strung out!
I'm not bitching here. I recognize the advantages that I have, the resources that I have, etc., etc., etc. But let's just say that this week has been one that has tested my limits.
We'll start with my hubby. My poor Paul has been in terrible shape for over a week. He has had a HORRIBLE attack of sciatica which has left him in absolutely horrendous pain whenever he moved. He has basically been couch-bound for over a week and unable to do anything. This has been horrible to watch. Basically, I have felt powerless. Not a damned thing I can do to ease the pain or comfort him. All I could do is try and stay near whenever possible. Additional burden that it is taking on being effectively a home health care aid, and having all the domestics, this would have been ok, except for one thing - I still have to work. But work is at least somewhat stable, right? Well, no.
You see, I am happy to report that I recently received a promotion. (Yeah!) I have moved from my previous position to a supervisory position. However, my area is short staffed. So until we get somebody else on board, this means that I still have my previous full-time job to do in addition to the responsibilities that come with my new position. (Boo!) This should just be a temporary thing, but it is seriously pullin' me in several directions at once.
So in a nutshell, over the past week or so, I have been doing some serious multitasking both at the office and at home, all along trying my best not to scream for CalGON at the top of my lungs. It IS getting better. Paul is feeling a little bit better (knock on wood), and I'm getting the work situation under control (again, knock on wood). Again, I'm not bitching. I recognize the wonderful things in my life. But, the timing of things hitting this week has just left me very thinly spread and a bit tense. So if I have come across to anybody as flip, short, or snippy, I do apologize.
