OK, I can now check “Visit Lubbock” off of my bucket-list. Over this past weekend, my dear husbear and I hopped on a plane (as much as he CAN hop, post back-surgery), to visit Lubbock, Texas. “What-what-WHAT?” you might be asking yourself. Yes, it was another SCA activity – specifically a Baronial investiture and 30th anniversary of the founding of the group that Paul helped to organize back in his college days.

Personally, I found it nothing less than absolutely charming. The people there are salt-of-the-earth friendly and nice. I really enjoyed listening to my honey and his ol’ college buddies reminisce. For me, I had to opportunity to put some faces to names that I have heard over the years, and to start some new friendships – always a welcome thing.

I didn’t realize it until coming back from the event, but MAN are we ever in the midst of the SCA busy season! We’ve been to San Francisco and Lubbock in recent terms. Yet over the next few weeks, we will be seeing Bakersfield, San Diego, and New Orleans all in the name of our silly costume party. I do love it, but MAN o MAN it gets exhausting after a while. I could use a vacation from my vacation. But I’m not complaining – I can rest when I’m dead.

Long live the new Renaissance!
