Politics

In a word – I hateses them! Whether it be in your social circles, or your workplace, or in the voting booth, or in the interviews you watch on TV, some days I just get so tired of the masks, I want to run away from it all.

Personally, I suck at politics. Why? Well, because I’m an honest guy – sometimes honest to a fault. I really have no poker face. If you want to throw a surprise party for your spouse, for instance, it is probably best not to tell me too far in advance. It isn’t that I am jonesin’ to ruin your surprise by telling her. It is instead that I just suck at lying and am not particularly convincing if pressed. (I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t know any military secrets!)

Of course, the counter to that is, I’m not afraid to speak the truth. Passive-aggressive tactics make me freaken’ bonkers! I have a lot more respect for the person who tells me to my face that he or she disagrees with something than to have that person say one thing to me, but another thing to another person. It is because of such insincerity that feelings get hurt, misunderstandings take place, and politics begin.

In recent times, I’ve run into some absolutely redonkulous politics. And in just about every case, there really was no need for it. If person A just had a spine and spoke the truth from day one, politics could have been avoided. But no…

Siiiiiiiiigh.

The moral of today’s whine, boys and girls? Just… be honest. In the long run, it will save you and everyone around you a lot of time and unnecessary stress.
