While I mean no offense to those out there who choose to lead their lives in a conservative manner, I have really reached my boiling point with laws – LAWS – being passed that limit freedoms, liberties, and rights! And sadly, around the world, we are seeing the progress that has been made over the course of centuries slowly being stripped away because conservatives who want to lead their own lives a certain way are not happy unless they force – FORCE – others to live in the same manner.

I think of the reports from Egypt of ultra-Muslim-extremist-politicians who have made statements that they would destroy the Sphinx if they could because it is idolatrous. Sound crazy? I’m really afraid it could happen! Think of the world’s largest Buddha statues in Afghanistan destroyed just a few years ago by anti-aircraft missiles launched by the Taliban. Ancient world heritage – WORLD heritage – destroyed forever by religious extremists.

I think of the Church of England who just voted against the ordination of female Bishops. Seriously?! Clearly, this gives credence to one thing – there really MUST be an extra brain embedded inside the penis! That would explain why so many men seem to think with them. Right? And obviously, God can only communicate through the penis, right? I guess things like the soul must not matter. And the purity of one’s heart clearly must not count. Forget about Charity. Forget about commitment. Heck, this would make the selection of Bishops so much easier! Line up all the contenders in a room and have them drop trow. He who has the biggest crosier clearly – CLEARLY – must be nearer to God than thee!

Misogynistic ass-hats! No… ass-miters!

I think of San Francisco. Silly, fun, and hippy-dippy as it is, San Francisco has legally allowed public nudity. It is nothing at all unusual to be walking down the street in San Francisco to pass by a 70 year old man wearing just sneakers. And ya know what? So what? Unusual? Yes. Is it necessarily what I want to see? No. But so what? Yet suddenly, this has become an issue and the legislature is trying to ban it. And rather than at least admitting to their own prudish sticks up their asses, they are citing complete bull-pucky things such as “health and sanitation issues”. For cryin’ out loud, nudists carry towels! And I believe it is already an ordinance that nudists who choose to sit in public places must sit on towels. What next? Are they going to create an ordinance to fine people who sneeze and do not carry hankies? After all, THAT is a health and sanitation issue, and it has more of an impact on a larger amount of people!

Here’s my point, kittens. It ain’t all about you, or about me, or about the family down the street. It is ludicrous and completely unacceptable for anyone out there to restructure a government to protect one from potentially being offended – especially in the U.S. of A! A good government PROTECTS the rights of its citizens. It doesn’t strip away the liberties of one group to please another. Isn’t it ironic how so many Americans watch the news and shake their heads in disbelief at the horrors of foreign oppressive governments, only to turn around and support laws to restrict what their own neighbors can legally do?

There is a huge – HUGE – difference between something that truly “IS offensive” and “taking offense at something.” I might become offended if I pass by a group of high school students and hear them loudly talking and swearing. But should there be a law to prevent them from their foul-mouthed free speech? No. However, if those same high school students go up to a synagogue and spray-paint “Die Jewish scum, Die!” that IS an offense (not to mention vandalism), and really SHOULD be lawfully dealt with.

WAKE UP AMERICA! Seriously! When it comes to law, you shouldn’t be casting your vote based on just yourself and what you personally want to see as the model for America. You should be taking into consideration more than just yourself. Think about the people around you. That is not just the ethical thing to do, or the moral thing to do – it is the right thing to do. Are YOU really so important that your beliefs, your lifestyle, your customs, or your morals should be imposed upon everybody else? We see governments that do that. We refer to them as socialist or communist or Sharia.

Guess what, kittens? In little bits and pieces, our own government does the same thing. And when you only take yourself or your family or your church into consideration, you are no better than the ultra-oppressives out there who are taking us back, step by step, to the days of cave-dwelling.
