Oy Vah, I’m tired!

So yes, I’ve been sick for a few months with some horrid infection that the doctors couldn’t figure out. But the good news is that after lots of pain and exhaustion, they figured out that by putting me on heavy-duty antibiotics (which I’m still on), that would pretty much kill off any invasion I’ve gotten. YEAH! So now, I am on the road to recovery and feeling significantly better than I had been. Again… YEAH! But yes, I am still my own worst enemy in that I forget that just because I FEEL better doesn’t mean that I AM better. But before anybody waves a finger in my face, I would please ask that you all cut me some slack – up until this point, I have ALWAYS bounced back quickly. This is the first time in my life that my body has decided to take its own sweet time getting back to normal. I can only assume that means that this nasty sickness was really worse than I had thought.

As a for instance, let’s look at this past Sunday. I slept well the night before, and had a list of errands to run during the day. Most significantly, I needed to get new tires (there’s apparently supposed to be grooves in your tires! Who knew?) Anyway, I ran over to Costco, and the helpful guy behind the counter told me, “OK, it’ll be about an hour and 45 minutes”. “Hmmm… I have time to kill,” I thought to myself. No prob! I’ll just walk across the street to the other part of the shopping district and apply some shop-therapy. I would feel good AND be helping the American economy. Win-Win, right?! Beautiful day that it was, I enjoyed soaking up the warmth and sunlight. And as I perused the shops, I had the chance to mentally relax and revel in the calmness of not having to rush or be anywhere.

A little more than an hour later, I was done browsing and decided to go into Costco to do some much-needed bulk shopping. And that is where the crash occurred. Just as I was almost done with my list, I suddenly went from feeling fine to feeling like my energy tanks had suddenly been completely drained. There was no warning. I saw no flashing yellow lights. I went from “fine” to having to suddenly lean against the shopping cart because if I didn’t, I would have fallen over. “Oh for cryin’ out LOUD!” I thought to myself. “WTF just happened?!!!!” I was tired. Sooooo tired. So drop-dead-bloody-tired-exhausted!!!!!!!!

Luckily, I only had about 2 or 3 things left. I summoned what little strength I had left to focus on my list, pick up my keys, unload the cart into the Jeep and go home. Once home, I summoned my big n’ burly hubby (I HIGHLY recommend having one. They come in so handy!) to unload the Jeep while I became one with the couch. Not one, not two, but THREE hours later, I regained consciousness.

In my entire life, I have never been this strangely ill. While I believe do think I am getting better, the extreme (and sometimes sudden) fatigue is like nothing I have ever experienced before. Next on my weekend agenda – more rest.
