Returning to the overcast skies of Santa Ana, I have the best tan I’ve had in ages, and feel pretty darned relaxed - FINALLY.  As crispy as I am on the outside, that is how crispy I had been on the inside prior to vacation.  Between work stress, SCA stress (can someone explain to me again exactly WHY a hobby should become stressful?), and tragedies befalling friends and family; I have been in a less-than-ideal state of mind for the past couple of months.  Now this isn’t to say that anything drastic has occurred in my life or in my behavior.  I have hardly done anything that would illustrate life lessons in a bad after-school-special.  But, I have just…I dunno…not had as much energy or joyful verve to seize life by the cajones and tackle several tasks at once the way that I normally would otherwise.  More often than not, I have just wanted to hide under the covers, unable to face the tasks of the day.  Fortunately, my friends have kept me going (I love you guys!).

Anyway, without further adieu, my top ten from the weekend includes…

10. Seeing and catching up with people that I see perhaps once a year.

9.  KILLER shopping at Cabazon!  Now that I have a Le Creuset tagine, I will be diving into my new Moroccan cookbook with reckless abandon.

8.  China, china, china!  Thanks to the Wedgewood outlet, we now have a full service set in the Cornacopia pattern.  WooHOO!  Dinner parties in the future.

7.  The cooking geek store – I just LOVE all of the weird little helpful items and gadgets they have.  I always come out with stuff that I didn’t know that I needed until I find them.

6.  Getting a tan.  White boy here shouldn’t look like a white boy, damnit!

5.  Dinner out with the boys.  Great food, great location, and great company always makes for an amazingly memorable time.

4.  Rest-up time with my hubby.

3.  Yoga.  Being in front of that waterfall, surrounded by tropical foliage, butterflies, and hummingbirds… just perfect.

2.  Meeting new friends from all over.  WooHOO!

1.  RELAXING!

Now, a return to “normal” life.  Le Sigh.

Cabazon shopping is always a voyage of discovery, even if sometimes what you discover is that all the stores are full of strange crap. The cooking geek store, on the other hand, always tempts me.

p.s. cAjones are big boxes; cOjunes are what you meant to say--unless you REALLY want to grab hold of life's big boxes....

No te preocupa! [Don't worry about it] It's a common mistake, I've seen it in print a few times, it's just funny.
