Is it the weekend yet?

storytimewithjoeThis week is just DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGING. I can't wait for the weekend.
Last night was a fun time. After I hit the house of pain, I joined my hus-bear for a farewell party down in Newport Beach. Driving down there, you could just smell it in the air - a pleasant mix of salt and... MONEY! I can't say that the houses really did it for me. They looked like the typical slapped-up newer beach McMansions that one normally sees - more glass than architecture to maximize that whole waterfront view. But what a view - overlooking the water, and lots o' yachts. Ya know, I really should have been born rich. I'm SURE I'd be good at it.
The party was a nice mix, and the food was scrumptous (and gods only know I'm a food-critic!) Of course, I think I am still suffering post-architectural-salvage stress disorder. Whenever I see fine detailing such as mouldings or window surrounds, I just get that sinking feeling in my stomach which indicates, "Oh crap... another one to yank down before I run out of time!"
