OK, perhaps I am the last person on the LJ planet who doesn't even know what a "meme" is. But rather than copy a test or a quiz or something like that, I instead pose this to all of you.

If you had one bit of constructive advice to give to me, what would it be? Yes, I'm leaving myself open here, and am willing to take it. So gang... what would it be?

Put less things on your project plate. :)

I think you get stressed because you have so much going on all at once and if a project takes longer or does not go as smoothly as you want it to (and they never do), it causes extreme amounts of stress.

Excellent advice! Now to teach myself to do that.

Never put salt in your eye. (This means never drunkenly check your margarita glass too closely to make sure it is empty... you may slip and put the rim too close to your eye... and that sucks)

I've done it. Trust me.

Also, relax and take a little more downtime for yourself. You overbook and overextend yourself so often and it makes you really crazy.

Oh boy do I get to be the first one hehehehehehe. No but really my advice would be stop sweating the small stuff. YOu have a habit of putting 84 irons in the fire and the freaking out about it. It is all good you always seem to juggle them somehow, but since you like to do this you can not let it wear you down the way it appears to sometime. The big stuff you get done, the small stuff ehh sometime everyone doesn't get what they want. So would my advice then be translated to prioritize and time management.... ack evil words.

It wasn't voodoo, it was originally a gift for the-then queen... But "adjustments" could be made.

Once a month or so, try to consider an issue from someone else's viewpoint, very different from your own--intellectually, but also emotionally, physically, logistically, philosophically, without judging which veiw is more right or useful.

You should find more compassion & tolerance for yourself, as well as for others, on seeing the world from a different perspective.

Stop & Smell the Roses

Be sure to stop and smell the roses and just relax and enjoy "it" for a few hours. You have so much on your plate all the time.

Actually, it is funny you should mention that. I have gotten into that habit - LITERALLY! In fact, I have a rose right next to me now from the garden. Weeee!

Seeeee.

Oh I want a garden but my 15' X 5' balcony is filled with plants but no roses, but I do have hibiscus (salmon and bright red). I don't like living with anyone above me so I need a house but this place is so reasonable.

A bad day at sea is better than a good day at work.

Don't be so critical of yourself. Also, you only have to please yourself, so be kind to yourself.

Don't hold yourself, or others, to such impossibly high and unachievable standards. Basically this means, slow down, give yourself a break and you might find more patience and tolerance for yourself others in the process.

Stop and learn to breathe. I mean, really just breathe. Deeply and fully, feeling your lungs go to capacity and feeling full of life.

And then learning to exhale, really exhale until all the stress and pain and worry and fear is gone, washed away by the letting go of all that air.

You always talk about your garden, hot tub, the improvements around the house... just take a day or two here and there and sit back to enjoy those things you've worked for and earned! Trust me, you'll enjoy spoiling yourself that way. I do it often enough, and take dinner on the back deck every so often too.

Another thing you can do for yourself is get dinner-take out, and take it to watch sunset from somewhere you really enjoy being, like your favorite park or beach.

Gladly, buddy. Trust me, if you can treat yourself like this once in a while, you really, really start enjoying life! One has to be a little hedonistic once in a while if you've earned it (and you most certainly have), or you're just not reaping the rewards of a good life... Try it; you've paid your dues, now enjoy what you get for that price of admission!
