Pep talk to myself.

Dear self,

Great job today at yoga! Of all the days for the instructor to turn up the intensity, it would be the first time back since fighting off this nasty cold. Butcha did it! You sweat like a dog, but you did it!

One bit of advice: I know how much you hate gaining weight. I know how much you are paranoid every time the scale registers one extra pound, and you hear the sirens in your head blaring, "FATTY! Fat-fat-FAT!!!!" But still, you have GOT to remember to eat about an hour before yoga. Those split-seconds of dizziness could have been avoided. So eat.

Reflection: Ah... elementary school - the most awkward period of my life. Why? Well, as THE fat kid in the class, I was the picked-on stereotype. Always the one targetted for dodge-ball... always the last one picked for any time... always the social introvert... and always the one made fun of for being so fat. I DETESTED gym class (aka Self-esteem crusher). I dreaded any time we were put to some test of endurance. I was always the first to crash, and I could have just died. How much I wanted to be one of the kids that COULD handle the excercises. How much I wanted to NOT be the loser.

Nowadays, being able to handle endurance training and keeping up with the best of them feels PRETTY DAMNED GOOD!

HA! That's -exactly- what we call our tubby cat named Morrigan... she is 18 pounds of pure fat. And DAMN if she HATES being called fat too :)

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend who was filling out a questionnaire his 20th high school reunion. He was agonizing over every answer, and I just couldn't understand it. For the most part, most of these people's lives peaked in high school, and why should he care so much about what they think? It's hard to leave some of that behind, I guess. And I'd rather be peaking later in life (I'm still not sure when it'll happen!) than earlier.

And I still have "FATTY! Fat-fat-FAT!!!!" moments too - I'm going through a period right now. Even tho I know I'm not REALLY fat, any extra weight freaks me out...
