As the wheel of the seasons turns, different areas of the country note the changes in unique ways. The most obvious image of fall is often the autumnal foliage of the northeast. One of my favorite and most peaceful activities used to be my annual pilgrimage to the Carolinas at the end of October. Departure typically began the night before. So by the time the sun rose, I would find myself right smack-dab in the most gorgeous foliage territory imaginable.

Fall in Florida I recall often being somewhat severe. The intensity of the Summer could and would often shift to the opposite extreme - frost and freezing rain. Not fun.

Here in lovely so. cal., people often joke that we do not have "Weather." We have "climate." And for the most part, this is true. The summers have maybe 2-3 weeks of somewhat uncomfortable heat. The winters are often mild. The only weather variation we tend to have involves Santa Ana Winds and the rains of December and January. This past year, of course, was freakish in that we saw much more rain than normal. Flaaaarida boi that I am, it was no big deal to me.

This past weekend, the backyard registered fall quite a bit. Oh sure, the camelias, azalias, mums, and gardenias all still have their lovely flowers. But most obvious is the shedding of the leaves from the pecan tree. Typically, our herring-bone brick pathway is visible. Not now. And walking along its winding ways, the crunch of the leaves is a welcome and pleasant entry into the season.

I'll update y'all on the holidays in another posting, as this one is already finding itself at a good length. In the meantime, here is a picture of me and my hubby at the Black Rose Ball last weekend. Don't we just look mischievious?

Nice picture! What are you using for shoes?

Um... shoes. :-)

Both of us have historical replica shoes. Not easy to find, nor inexpensive. But at least they last.

Well, the costumes are brilliant. But you know that already. So I was just curious about the shoes. In my younger days I had something of a foot fetish, but not any more.

In a Carrie Bradshaw kinda way, or something requiring more therapy?

Who is Carrie Bradshaw?

If this is a TV reference, I wouldn't get it.

Yes, it is a TV reference, but one that also is mandatory for all self-respecting gay men. Surely, you must know Sex in the City.

*yawn* read the book. Never saw the show. Does this mean I lose my gay card? What about all those blowjobs?

LOL

Sorry, but I cannot go on your word alone. I can only verify the ones I receive.

Gay credentials:
I dance for an all gay rapper sword team, the Gay Blades
(www.gayblades.org).

I've marched in countless Pride parades in an HRC tank top.

I kiss men (not boys).

I am a Queer and present danger.

OK, babe, bend over. This won't hurt a bit, and will make you very happy.

Let's help you make a new memory.

What was that phrase that we used to see on all those t-shirts? Oh yeah, I remember:
"You've been a bad boy. Go to my room!"

You are using the wrong emoticon...
you SHOULD be using:

What? Dancing on an all gay rapper team isn't enough?
Having bear paws tattooed amidst my pubic hair isn't enough?
Do I have to give you a demonstration?

The things I do for gay causes!

I don't think of myself as a cause as much as I do a delight. :-)
