Holy crap… we got a man down!

This past weekend was supposed to be a much-needed and much-deserved relaxing and peaceful time at home. Time to get started on some projects, putter around in the garden, and relax a bit. But noooooooooooooooooo. Because the fates HATE the idea of me actually relaxing, they threw me a curveball. The outside temperatures climbed into the triple digits, and brought in an unusual mugginess. And me, no longer a Florida-boy, can no longer handle the heat. At some point in the middle of the weekend in our great big non-air-conditioned barn, I managed to come down with a nasty state of heat prostration, heat stroke, or whatever you’d call it. UGH! Pain, dizziness, nausea, and did I mention PAIN???!!!! I would be sitting there holding a conversation, and then in mid sentence find myself almost doubled-over as if a knife had been plunged into my gut. UGH!

For the past couple of days, I have been effectively down for the count, fighting nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. NOT fun. Yesterday, I wanted SOOOOOOOOOOOO badly to stay home after work, but I had made a commitment to support the Barony at the Guild and Group night at the fighter practice. So I cooked a dish, and we headed out. I was thrilled to see so many people. There were at least 50 when I counted. It was a good gathering, but it was nice to be able to head home. Fortunately, the outside temperatures are beginning to drop back down to normal, and as of today I am starting to feel kinda, sorta human again.

WHY exactly do I do this to myself? Once again, I am finding that I am overcommitted. (Please don’t beat me, Aliskye!) I don’t blame anybody but myself for my inability to say the word, “No…” without the follow-up of “… problem!”

Our group is hosting Coronation in November. Fortunately, we have two very apt event stewards for Coronation on Saturday, and QC on Sunday. Yet as Baronial Seneschal, I will be working with both on the fine details, the paperwork, signatures, etc., etc. ahead of time. My grand-daughter/Baroness will be head cook. I am thrilled that she will have the opportunity to once again showcase her talents, and I look forward to working with her on the day of the event. My hubby and I are working on the refurbishment of the Kingdom kneeling pillows, which after about 20 years are in pretty desperate need. (I was STUNNED to see what the original color of the fabric had been when Giles removed the embroidered slips! Who knew what a rich and beautiful blue they had been at a time! Now for us to just get the new embroidered slips in place, do the couching, the appliqué, etc., etc.)

We would like to have a new Giles-sized herald’s tabard done for the event.

Oh, and then there is that peerage scroll that I need to have done for one elevation.

And then there is that embroidered/beaded sleeve that I am working on for another elevation.

Oh, and then there is my own new outfit to complete…

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!! ALL IN TWO MONTHS?! CAAAAAAAAAAAAALGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!
