Can’t concentrate

It doesn’t take a rocket-scientist to see that I’ve been a stressed-out pup for the past few weeks. Joey NEEDS a vacation, and this is gonna be a wonderful one.

 

I can’t concentrate on work right now. I can’t concentrate on projects right now. I can’t concentrate on much of anything right now. Why? Because tomorrow we hop on a plane for New Orleans, Bay-Bay!!!!!! Combining the best of my geeky worlds, part of the trip will involve one of the bigger SCA events, Gulf War. Gulf War, I must admit, used to be one the plagues of my world. I was involved for several years in running the arts competition. The administration of that just drove me nuts!!! Frequently, things depended upon the input of the Crown who, frankly, did not want to be bothered with anything other than the fighting or the parties. Needless to say, that always pissed me off! If you are going to take on the role, you need to take on ALL of it and not just cherry-pick the parts that you want to do. Combine that with working with some of the other Kingdom ministers, a few of whom had some very nasty personal agendas which sometimes led to failed attempts at sabotage, and it was frequently not a pleasant experience. As the guy coordinating the competition, it was like herding cats to get anyone to actually make a decision (gods, that seems to be the story of my life!) 

 

But now that I am not involved in any way with the administration of any of it, I get to play – WOOHOOO!!!!!!! I can’t wait to see the faces of friends that I haven’t seen in a while. I can’t wait to dance there again. I have so many wonderful memories of late night dance and organized silliness. It will be wonderful to do it again.

 

And then, or course, NEW ORLEANS, BAY-BAY! Fantabulous food… booze… fun bars… history… cool old sites and buildings… GODS I can’t wait!

We're going to be driving back from Lumberton, Mississippi on Sunday morning, so no Jazz Brunch for us. We are, however, having dinner at the Court of Two Sisters Sunday evening. :)
