OK, Mr. Obama. This time, you majorly screwed the pooch. Up until this point, I’ve been with ya. Sure, you come under fire left and right from conservative fuktards of the Party-of-No. And through it all, I’ve defended you, pointing out the boobie-traps and sabotages laid out by tea-party members who are blind to how ludicrous their childish actions truly are. Through all the complaints and vitriol spouted, I have pointed out that you inherited the complete quagmire created by that incompetent idiot, Dubya, and his EEEEEEEvil henchman, Cheney. And despite the fact that, “yes we can!” has turned into, “just be patient, pretty please” I have been a supporter. That is, until I read this morning’s headlines: “Appeals court tells US military to keep in place, ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy for now”

 

WHAT?????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

This would be the U.S. Department of Justice under the Obama Administration? That would be the same Mr. Obama who boldly stated that he opposes the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, and that it will “end on my watch”. THAT Mr. Obama? And the DoJ has appealed the case?????????? I’m just GOBSMACKED!!!!!!

 

Mr. Obama claims that, "It has to be done in a way that is orderly, because we are involved in a war right now." As such, he wants to see Congress repeal the law rather than, oh gee, letting the courts decide and weigh upon the constitutionality of denying rights. After all, it just isn’t orderly to let the courts decide upon matters of law. Hey… wait a minute. Huh???

Mr. Obama, let’s turn back the clock. Rather than end slavery, let’s just turn the issue over to a bunch of fat-cat, cigar-smoking good-ol’ boy conservatives in Washington who may or may not get around to it any time soon. The women’s right to vote? Oh, let’s just pull that back while we’re at it. After all, we’re at a time of war. Why muddy the waters with the irrational, unpredictable nature that might be the thinking of women? What was that quote from Dr. King? “Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty I’ll be free at last just as soon as Congress gets around to allowing it IN A WAY THAT IS ORDERLY”?

 

Mr. Obama, this double-speak concessionary crap is nothing more than a thinly-veiled attempt to not rock the boat too much during mid-term elections. You had the chance. You had the power. The democrats had the clear majority after the epic fail of Dubya. And did you take advantage of the time? No. You kept trying to play nice-nice with the party-of-no. And what did you do? You LOST YOUR CHANCE! They don’t play nice, and guess what? They’re gonna win power and control back, leaving you as nothing more than a lame-duck.

 

Mr. Obama, I am just disgusted. You made promises. You kept saying, “Yes, we can!” And you kept talking a good talk. But rather than doing what you actually had the power to do, you just waffled. Yes, Mr. Obama – we ARE in the middle of a war. And with each passing day, more service-men are putting their lives on the line. Our military is desperate for trained professionals who can do the job. And just when the doors opened up again, you allowed your administration to slam them shut to a section of the population who can benefit this country. Why, Mr. Obama. WHY??????? To allow for a “way that is orderly”? What the freaken hell does THAT mean? WE ARE AT WAR! LET THEM SERVE!

 

Mr. Obama, I have n political ties. I have no political power. I have no political connections. I am nobody – nothing to you. I only have one thing that I’m allowed to do. I’m allowed to vote. I have no idea whom I will be voting for in the next election, but you have just made it very clear to me whom I will be voting AGAINST.

 

“Yes we can”, you claimed. Sure we can… if you’re straight.

I was truly fucking (to use the epithet of the day) amazed when he started spouting that bullpucky. It has proven that he is no longer a man of vision (if he ever truly was) and is just another political asshole.

When changes come from the courts, it is always painful. Desegregation, abortion, you name it - the issue is not changed by the elected representatives of the people in response to the people, but by a court decision, and the change is wrenching, healing badly and with scars. As such, it's clearly not the best way to do things. I'm sure the President has this in mind.

BUT, this is still clearly bullshit political cowardice.
