OK, I admit that is an odd lead-in, but hear me out.

Yesterday, I found myself in the most horrible depression. It was so bad, I left work early. I couldn't function. I couldn't do any of my projects. Hell, I couldn't even cook dinner. It seemed like too much.

Now, having said that, what is odd about this scenario? It is NOT the new moon, so we cannot compensate in the typical way. Nor am I a manic-depressive. When I took a couple of valerian tablets, that didn't even help. What the f#$($? I rode out the evening, and went to bed.

This morning, a new idea occured to me. On Monday, after a really, really good workout, I got to the locker room, undressed, and was stepping into the hottub when IT happened. Shear - white lightening - agonizing - stabbing pain in the lowest of my low-back. My back just locked, and I couldn't even react. Being half-way on a step when it happened, I collapsed into the tub - fortunately into a seat with a direct hot-jet of water to the very spot. I sat there for a bit, unable to move. I don't know WHY I had a back-ache, but I did. I recall once when this happened before a side-effect of the back-spasm (or disk shift, or whatever the hell it was), was an emotional roller-coaster as a result of chemical release.

Anybody out there know anatomy well enough to give me some insights into what this was, what to do, and how to avoid it again?

Omega-3, eh? I think I'll have to do that in supplemental form, as I just HATE fish.

Sounds like really good advice. I'll have to give it a shot!

As for the straddles and splits, I'm *pretty good*, but not grand. I can't *quite* get to a split, as I am just not quite that flexible yet.

Question - how well does the omega fatty acid work compared to a diet rich in olive oil (which is what I pretty much have nowadays)?

Omega fatty acids come in 3-6-9. Pre-modern diet is rich in 3's as they are derived from animals that consume green stuff like GRASS not corn and wheat primarily. With Big Conglomerate Agriculture stuffing as many cattle on to an acre of land, cows are then finished on grain to get that marbled meat. (you get your potatoes in your meat) Omega -3 's are not made from corn fed beef.In the case of fish -algae,but not farm-raised as they are all fed pellets made mostly of soy(shudder).
You can get get Omega-3 in grass-fed beef and grass-fed dairy. Look up a company called Organic Pastures. They are in Southern Cal. You will get sticker shock but it is well worth it and for your health and for your hubby too!. Olive oil, coconut, palm and most seed oils are omega-6's. You should have a 1:1:25 ratio of 3-6-9's but it is more like the opposite.
