What an intensely crazy weekend! Against good advice and counsel, I pushed myself hard this weekend, and don’t regret it one bit. I loved every minute!

Friday, we had a nice relaxing evening at home with a nummy dinner, and a visit from a friend that we don’t see anywhere near as much as we’d like.

Saturday, we had the extreme honor and privilege of hosting Caidan 12th Nite. What a KILLER event! I don’t mind saying publicly, that I’ve been rather disappointed in the past few years with 12th nite. Traditionally a high-profile event where people bring out their finest medieval ware, have their portraits taken, wonderful feasting, etc., I think the Kingdom has gone through much of the same malaise that has stricken the SCA in general. People just haven’t wanted to put in that extra effort. I hope I’m not coming across as overly critical of anybody’s efforts. Au contraire! I very much appreciate people’s efforts. I have just observed a bit of a… I dunno…. A tired feeling sweep the kingdom. And I’ve wanted to see some additional spark, and inspiration, and a desire to do more and work harder. Well, I gotta say that this 12th Nite in Gyldenholt did just that! Sure, I’m biased. I love this group, and am proud to call them my peeps. But seriously, the event was just awesome! We had a very successful portrait studio, an amazingly large number of scrolls displayed and presented (Go Scribes!!!!!!), beautiful decoration, fantastic musicians, a to-die-for-feast, and an all-around-general-good-time. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I am blessed to be part of this group!

On Sunday, following a meeting, my dear hubby and I did another costume-dress-up-event – beer bust at the Eagle in LA. I was soooo happy to see a very good friend of mine who just won Mr. Leather, and was really surprised to run into friends that I haven’t seen in a while. My hubby looked so good, and was having fun. I was so proud and happy to be with him there.

By the time we got home, I was nothing short of exhausted. So a nice hot bath later, I slipped under the covers and faded into a comatose state of rest. I wish all weekends were this well-balanced and this much fun!
